2021.12.08 15:19 Axantox How come minoxidil isn't branded as a beard product?
As the title says, I'm genuinely curious behind the story of why the companies making minoxidil are selling it as a beard product when there's so many people using it for their beards. Anyone got any info on this?

2021.12.08 15:19 Orwellcryptofarm How can I see table of chapters of a pdf on notability?
I am trying to switch from goodnotes and something i thought was really handy was that it automatically made a table of the chapters and sub chapters of a PDF, from where i could navigate between chapters very quickly. Somehow I can't find that on notability. I can only find where you make your custom table of contents.
Could you help me please? Thank you in advance! :)

2021.12.08 15:19 Novel-Secretary1954 Is Probation a clearance killer?
Long story short, fighting a DUI charge in Maryland. First offense, no prior duis or anything on my record. Would a Probation before Judgement be looked unfavorably upon for my TS? Also I Reporter it as soon as it happened. No accident or anyone injured either. My attorney is going to attempt to beat the charge but of course we’re preparing for worst case and a PBJ seems to be a likely worst case with unsupervised probation in my case. If I could get reckless would that be any better?

2021.12.08 15:19 Curious_Meriki Trying to understand the idea of faith
Wrestling this morning with the idea of ‘faith’. Is there a good kind of faith? Is any amount of faith bad? Theramin Trees has a good video breaking down his journey of discovering that “Faith is not a virtue” and I appreciate his points. But as I’ve thought about it I wonder if there’s still a kind of ‘faith’ that is important for humans and their tribes.
I’ve found that in the circles of the church, the way people act out their definition of faith is as if it meant “faith in spite of evidence”
So TBMs continue to believe regardless of what evidence they see. Because to them, that’s what faith means.
I wonder if a better example of faith is like the towns people from The Boy Who Cried Wolf. They hear a message, and trust it enough to investigate, because if it WAS true that would be really important. But after they investigate (evidence) they don’t feel guilty for not continuing to believe the boys shenanigans. Because for a normal functioning society, faith is not ‘belief in spite of evidence’
The Doubting Thomas story comes to mind. I think members misinterpret it.
Similar to the towns people from The Boy Who Cried Wolf, Thomas is given information, that if true, would be super important! But unlike the towns people, rather then to go and investigate, just to make sure — because after all, if this was true this would be amazing. Thomas’ mindset is to decide it’s too unlikely, and therefore untrue from the start until proven true.
Which I kind of also agree with ha. Burden of proof and all that. The people making a claim have the burden of proving its true, and until they do, nobody else should be under any obligation to that claim etc etc.
So I guess I’m trying to put my finger on some kind of weird middle ground. It’s important to trust people, because sometimes, incredible things DO happen. Sometimes a boy DOES see a wolf outside the community, and that would be really important to know. But its also important not to ‘believe something in SPITE of evidence’ — because that makes room for all kinds of bad actors (See: Joseph Smith)
So how do you balance that? Is it safer to be ‘all skepticism all the time’? It seems like some form of trust is crucial for human organizations.
My current sense is to adopt a mindset of something like: “Wow, that sounds important! We'd better take a careful look to make sure we understand whats going on here.”
In a way that kind of feels like you’re still ‘believing before seeing’ — trusting — but at the same time respecting truth enough that you won’t believe something that isn’t true.
Does that make sense? I’m sure some of you have thought through all this much more than I have. Would be curious to hear your thoughts and experiences. Whats the best way to orient yourself?
